Mac & Atom Bomb freestyle over the hotter singles of 2016 on a new tape, Bombs Over Boulevards/Bars From Mars.

Undergravity has gotten their swagger back.

After a nearly three (!) year hiatus following their The Freshest MCs collab album with Dante Higgins, he duo of M.A.C. and Atom Bomb returned last year to drop off Space Age Funk, Vol. 1: The Crash Landing, an incredible – if somewhat overlooked – symphony of throwback sound and pure rhymes. Its spitefully cocky lead single, “I Don’t Need Ya,” had a small run last fall as well.

Picking up where they left off in 2016, Undergravity has offered up their first contribution to the new year by way of a brand-new tape, Bombs Over Boulevards/Bars From Mars. It’s an Undergravity tape that takes a Speakerboxxx/The Love Below type approach, letting each man do damage on their own by jacking the beats of some of last year’s hottest singles for five songs apiece. “We decided to give our supporters a something a little different,” Undergravity shared via email.

M.A.C.’s previous remake of “Big Amount” appears here, but it’s far from the tape’s only standout. He holds down the tape’s first half, kicking things off with a blistering freestyle over Bruno Mars’s “24K Magic” and remaking the Migos’ recent radio takeover track as his own on “Badd & Boujee” (even changing up “Raindrop, drop top” on the pre-hook to “Can’t stop, won’t stop”). That leaves Atom Bomb to take the baton on the second half, and that he does – the emcee makes short work of Big Sean’s “Bounce Back,” for example; and professes loyalty to only his team and his daughter on his freestyle over Drake and 21 Savage’s “Sneakin’.” Oh, and yes, Atom Bomb somehow did transform “Cranes in the Sky” into a song about being high.
